The visit is in conjunction with the team’s participation in Special Spectators, a national nonprofit organization that works with Division 1-A football programs and children’s hospitals to arrange player visits with young patients who are battling a serious or life-threatening illness and coordinates a day of fun and freedom at a college football game for the children and their families.
Arizona, Central Florida, Illinois, Kent State, Louisville, Northwestern, Stanford, Temple. Tulsa and Virginia are other Division I-A programs connected with Special Spectators.
Through San Jose State University's generous involvement in Special Spectators, children who have been patients at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital will attend a Spartan football game during the 2004 season and participate in game day activities.
