The Koret Athletic Training Center, a new 15,000 square foot strength, conditioning and rehabilitation facility, next to the Simpkins Stadium Center, opened November 1, 2001. This outstanding facility was made possible through private donations totaling more than $3.4 million.

The one-story building includes a 1,000-square-foot rehabilitation and physical therapy area, locker and shower facilities and offices for doctors, a physical therapist, nutritionist and coaches also are part of the blueprint for the Koret Athletic Training Center.

Besides more space, more and new state-of-the-art equipment, the additional locker facilities will allow more student-athletes to go from a class to a workout to a shower and back to class right away. The physical therapy and rehabilitation areas will be new to San Jose State University student-athletes.

The Koret Athletic Training Center now is among the best in the Western Athletic Conference based on its square footage and being a "stand-alone" building. The facility also will be "a huge recruiting tool - a state-of-the-art facility as nice as any in the Bay Area."

However, another $150,000 is needed to furnish the new facility with weight and rehabilitation equipment.
