Tom Bowen Appointed To NCAA Football Committee
Indianapolis, Ind.-----Tom Bowen is the first San Jose State director of athletics in more than 30 years to be appointed to a NCAA Football Committee.
Indianapolis, Ind.-----San Jose State University director of athletics Tom Bowen has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Football Issues Committee effective immediately.
Bowen is one of seven athletics directors from Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) institutions to serve on this prestigious and important national 24-member committee. The committee is charged with overseeing, improving and enhancing the sport in all areas including competition and in-season and out-of-season experiences for student-athletes, coaches and fans.
In his new national role, Bowen not only represents San Jose State University, but also the Western Athletic Conference. Athletics directors from the Big Ten, Pacific-10, Big 12, Mid-American Conference, Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference also are committee members.
“I am excited about the opportunity to represent San Jose State University and the Western Athletic Conference on this national committee. Division I football is a great game enjoyed by many throughout the country and it is an honor to be charged with the responsibility to make the game an even better experience for all,” says Bowen, the first Spartan athletics director in more than 30 years to be appointed to one of the NCAA’s football committees.
