Tom Bowen Named To Bay Area Sports Power Elite
Athletics director Tom Bowen was named to the Bay Area's 25 Most Powerful Sports Figures by the San Jose Mercury News.
Athletics director Tom Bowen was named #22 in the San Jose Mercury News' annual poll of the Bay Area's 25 Most Powerful Sports Figures.
Bowen, the only San Jose State University director of athletics ever named to the poll, was cited for revitalizing the Spartans' men's and women's basketball programs.
In the midst of his fourth year leading the Spartans, Bowen is one of two with Spartan connections in this year's top-25. One-time basketball player Jeff Novitsky, the government's lead investigator in the BALCO case, also is on the list.
