The San Jos State volleyball team is set to begin play in newly renovated Spartan Gym on September 22 at 7:00 p.m. versus WAC newcomer Idaho.

During the summer of 2005, Spartan Gym underwent extensive renovations to update the facility. New paint, new ceiling, new windows and new scoreboards highlight the many changes to the facility.

“It’s exciting to have a place we can call home,” said San Jos State head coach Craig Choate. “The Event Center is a fantastic arena, but we never felt it was our home. Our locker room is in the Spartan Complex and so is Spartan Gym, so it’s natural to feel like home with the proximity of the gymnasium.”

The volleyball team played in Spartan Gym until 1990 when The Event Center was completed. Their overall record in Spartan Gym is 129 wins and 57 losses. The team
Has played one or two matches a year at Spartan Gym, but call The Event Center its home court.
