Women's Basketball Holds On For Win Over Tulsa

For the second consecutive game, the Spartans (13-10, 8-6) had a long drought without scoring a field goal in the second half. Atari Parker hit a field goal at 13:00 to give SJSU a 51-39 lead. The Spartans next field goal came at 4:57 on an Elea AGiza layup, a span of 9:03 without a field goal. Tulsa (15-10, 10-5) had outscored SJSU 16-6 during that time and had taken a brief lead.

The layup gave San Jose State the lead for good. The Golden Hurricane got as close as one point at 61-60 with 10 seconds remaining, but Williams hit two free throws with eight seconds remaining to give San Jose State the victory.

Three Spartans scored in double figures Williams with 20, AGiza with 13 and Tatiana Taylor with 11. MiaTonya Smith led the team in rebounds with nine.

Leela Farr and Carla Morrow each had 13 for Tulsa. Candice Brewer added 10 points in the loss. Farr led the team with nine rebounds.

San Jose State will play at Nevada on Tuesday and at Fresno State next Saturday afternoon.
