Women's Tennis Edges Texas Pan American, 4-3

Helen Van won at number-four singles and number-two doubles against Texas Pan American.

Los Gatos, Calif.-----Coral Silverstone and Helen Van each won a singles match and combined for a doubles victory as San Jose State University defeated Texas-Pan American, 4-3, in a non-conference women’s tennis match.

Silverstone defeated Elisabet Mateos, 6-3, 6-4 at number-two singles and Van posted her second straight set win in two days with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Eve Nickelson at number-four singles. The Spartan pair combined for an 8-2 win over Nickelson and Jessica Brown at number two doubles.

Noelle Lee’s victory over Kathryn Waslen at number three singles also helped San Jose State post its first two-match winning streak of the season.

San Jose State improved its record to 4-6 while Texas Pan American dropped to 2-10.
