Women's tennis finishes season tied for fifth at WAC Championships

Tulsa, Okla.-----Top-seeded Fresno State ended the 2001-02 season for San Jose State University with a 4-0 win in a quarterfinal round match at the Western Athletic Conference women's tennis championship.

The Spartans, 8-15, lost at the top four singles matches. In the best of seven-point scoring system, the remaining two singles matches were abandoned and none of the three doubles matches occurred.

Fresno State, 14-5, won all the completed singles matches in straight sets.

San Jose State's quarterfinal round appearance marked the Spartans' first since joining the WAC in 1996-97.
