Women's Tennis Loses to Idaho State, 5-2, at UC Irvine Invitational

Irvine, Calif.-----For the second straight day at the UC Irvine Spring Invitational women's tennis tournament, Noelle Lee and Helen Van of San Jose State University won their singles matches, but the Spartans came up on the short end of a 5-2 decisio

Irvine, Calif.-----For the second straight day at the UC Irvine Spring Invitational women’s tennis tournament, Noelle Lee and Helen Van of San Jose State University won their singles matches, but the Spartans came up on the short end of a 5-2 decision. Idaho State beat San Jose State in a consolation bracket match on March 25.

Lee, at number three, and Van, at number four singles, each won in straight sets over their Idaho State opponent. Lee defeated Hayli Scott, 6-1, 6-1 in the most lopsided singles score between the two teams.

The Spartans shook up the top of the lineup with Coral Silverstone playing number one singles for the first time this season this season and Ana Lukner dropping down to number two. Both players lost straight set matches.

Though Van and Silverstone won the number two doubles match, Idaho State took the doubles point by winning number one and three doubles.

San Jose State, 5-9 on the season, will face UC San Diego in the seventh place match on Tuesday, March 26.
