Irvine, Calif.-----Winning two of three doubles matches and three singles competitions for the only time in three days were enough for the San Jose State University women’s tennis team to defeat UC San Diego, 4-3, and finish in seventh place at the UC Irvine Invitational.

The Spartans’ top two doubles teams of Ana Lukner and Noelle Lee and Helen Van and Coral Silverstone opened the match with victories.

San Jose State again shook up its singles lineup dropping Lukner, who usually plays number one singles down to three, and moving Silverstone up to number one with positive results. Both players won their singles matches and Lee won her fourth consecutive singles match in the last five days with a 7-6, 6-1 triumph over UC San Diego’s Ashley O’Neil.

The Spartans improved their dual match record to 6-9.
