Nathan Edwards joined the San Jose State athletics media relations department in August 2014.
In his role as a student assistant, Edwards serves as the primary sports information contact for the baseball and women's tennis teams and assists with home football and basketball games.
In 2015, Edwards became the first student from a California-based institution to win the Fred Nuesch Undergraduate Scholarship in the 17-year history of the national award given annually by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to two undergraduate students who exemplify excellence in media relations.
Edwards attended the University of San Francisco as a freshman in 2012-13, where he joined the athletic communications staff and handled the publicity for the men's and women's tennis teams. In addition, he aided with baseball and basketball home games.
After leaving USF to continue his baseball career, Edwards attended Santa Rosa Junior College and played on the 2014 Bear Cubs squad that finished 29-14 overall and reached the Northern California Sectionals.
A 2012 graduate of Vintage High School in Napa, Calif., Edwards played four years of baseball for the Crushers. As a senior, he hit .333 with 21 runs scored, 20 RBIs and three home runs en route to first-team All-Monticello Empire League and All-Napa County selections.
Edwards is currently a senior at San José State. He is majoring in business administration with a concentration in management and plans to graduate in May 2016.
