Six NLIs Signed For Women's Hoops
San Josà © State women's basketball head coach Jamie Craighead announced the signing of six student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday afternoon. The group is made up entirely of high school seniors who will begin competing for the Spartans in the 2017-18 school year.

"With the turnover in our roster in last year and the seniors we will be losing after this season, we needed to get players who weren't going to be afraid of the level of competition and were ready to go from day one," Craighead said. "We also looked for in-state prospects who can help us build on our relationships and boost our attendance at games, but most of all we wanted players who can play in our system and thrive.

"We got to bring a lot of these ladies in together for official visits and our players, who played against them, were really excited about what they did on the court. It's really nice to have your seniors tell you that the players you are bringing in are going to be really good and that our program will continue to get better."

The six are Megan Anderson and Danae Marquez (Clovis West High School/Fresno, Calif.), Heleyna Hill (Archbishop Mitty High School/San Jose, Calif.), Cydni Lewis (Mater Dei High School/Long Beach, Calif.), Mikaylah Wilson (Etiwanda High School/Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) and Chinwe Ezeonu (Seattle Prep/Seattle, Wash.).

We watched her play for her AAU team this summer and she did a tremendous job for them. She is a little rawer, but can run, is athletic and can rebound. I think the players she has been around will make her that much better at this level and we are really excite to see where she can take her game."

Coach Craighead's Comments
"Mikaylah was the last piece of the puzzle for this recruiting class. She was our last commitment and the X-factor to this group. She's physically built for this level. She is really explosive and athletic and can score in a multitude of ways. She will initially play the wing for us, but can play a lot of spots on the floor."
