Men's Soccer Picked Fourth In WAC Preseason Poll

Denver, Colo.----- With a veteran squad back from its conference tournament championship appearance, San Jose State University was picked to finish fourth in the Western Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll.

The Spartans received 84 points in the voting done by the conference's 12 coaches. Defending conference tournament champion Seattle U., which beat San Jose State for the WAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, was picked to repeat with 119 points on nine first-place votes.

UNLV with 105 points and Air Force with 104 also were ahead of San Jose State. Air Force, which was ranked 12th nationally before losing to the Spartans in the conference tournament semifinals, received the remaining three first-place votes.

Andy Rios, a senior defender and 2017 second-team All-WAC honoree, was named to the conference's pre-season All-WAC team.

The Spartans open their season at Stanford, Friday, August 24, 5:00 p.m.
