San Jose, Calif. -- The University of the Pacific scored all three of its goals in the first half in a 3-0 non-conference men's soccer victory.
After a Max Allen shot in the 12th minute of the first half that hit the right side post and bounced away instead of past Pacific goalkeeper Mateo Gomez, the Tigers (4-2-1) gained control of the match.
Camden Riley gave Pacific a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute on a penalty kick. Goals by Jonathan Jiminez at 34:59 and Anthony Orendain at 42:15 rounded out the match's scoring. Orendain also assisted on Jiminez's goal.
San Jose State (2-4-1) outshot Pacific, 16-10, but was unable to put a ball past Pacific goalkeeper Gomez who was credited with three saves. Alex Clewis was credited with one save in goal for the Spartans.
San Jose State returns to action on Saturday, September 22 in a 7:00 p.m. match at CSU Bakersfield to open Western Athletic Conference action.
