Take Five: Ryan Cooper

SAN JOSE, Calif. – SJSU men's basketball director of operations Ryan Cooper has liked what he's seen in summer workouts this offseason. With 10 newcomers joining a roster that returns just a handful of players, the Spartans will certainly have a fresh look when they take the court this November, and according to Cooper that new look will be an impressive one featuring a lot of talent.

Cooper, a native of San Jose, is actually the longest-tenured member on the men's basketball staff as he enters his third season. He returned to his hometown after successful head coaching stints at Valley Christian High, Oak Grove High and Del Mar High. A 2008 graduate, he was also a standout on the hardwood as a player at his alma mater Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont. Cooper finished fourth in on the school's career scoring list, ranks second in career assists and is a member of the 1,000 point club while earning All-Pacific West Conference honors in three of his four seasons.
