Las Vegas, Nev.----- The San Jose State University doubles pair of Tamara Culibrk and Mathilda Vidgren defeated Southern Utah University's Daniela Cozzi and Alex Ngo, 8-3, in a consolation championship match at the UNLV Fall Invitational women's tennis tournament.
Freshman Alba Pedrero Galindo was the Spartans' other winner on the final day of the three-day season-opening tournament. She defeated Northern Arizona's Elrene Granville, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, in a third-place match.
"Alba got the job done finishing with a third-set win to wrap up her first collegiate tournament and I was very proud to see Savannah (Sendar) battle back after losing her first set, 6-0 and taking her match to a very tight third set," said San Jose State head coach Chad Skorupka.
Sendar lost to En-Pei Huang of UNLV, 6-0, 4-6, 7-5.
The Spartans return to action in two weeks at the annual three-day Saint Mary's Invitational in Moraga, Calif..
