Women's Cross Country Sixth at Stanford Invitational

Stanford, Calif. – For the 14th time in which she has suited up in a San José State singlet, junior Jennifer Sandoval was the first Spartans to cross the finish line. On Saturday, in the Stanford Invitational, Sandoval was 15th and led the team to a sixth place finish among 19 teams that competed. The Spartans score 142 points.

Sandoval has never, in 14 collegiate races, had a Spartan teammate beat her to the finish line. On Saturday she ran a 21:26.2 on the Stanford Golf Course.

Just behind Sandoval was Kai Bohannon. The sophomore out of Liberty High School in Discovery Bay, Calif., stopped the clock in 21:31.5 and in 18th place.

Running together for most of the race and finishing three places apart, Jeanette Zambrano and Savanna Perez were 31st and 34th, respectively.

Zambrano, a senior from Garden Grove, Calif., in her first race of the season, ran a 21:57.4. Perez, a junior transfer from Sacramento State, crossed the finish line in 21:59.6, and was nearly a minute and a half quicker than her time at the first meet of the year, the USF Cross Country Invitational (9/1/18).

Adilene Aldapa was the final Spartan to score. She finished in 22:27.2 and in 50th place in her first race of the season.
