Spartans Fall to Army in Levi’s Stadium, 52-3

)SANTA CLARA, Calif. – San José State was unable to find much success on any front as the Spartans losing to Army, 52-3, in Levi's Stadium.
 
SJSU (0-6) scored the first points of the game on a 49-yard field goal by Bryce Crawford and trailed just 14-3 at the half. However, four second-half fumbles resulting in 24 Black Knights' points doomed the Spartans. San José State was the victim of the strip-sack on three straight possessions and coughed the ball up for a fourth time on the following possession as quarterback Montel Aaron was fighting for yardage downfield and was stripped. The fumble was returned 52 yards for a touchdown by Army's James Nachtigal to tack on to the commanding lead at 45-3.
 
The Spartans were outgained on offense, 395-171, and rushed for just 26 yards to Army's 341. Aaron, making his first start since the Washington State game, passed for 118 yards on 12-of-17 passing. Tyler Nevens added 43 yards on the ground on 11 carries to lead the Spartans in rushing.
 
The Black Knights (4-2) were led offensively by quarterback Kelvin Hopkins, Jr. who rushed for 99 yards and three scores and added 54 yards through the air and another score on a 41-yard pass to Jordan Asberry early in the second quarter.
