Men’s Soccer Loses, 1-0, To CBU

San Jose, Calif. – Cal Baptist sophomore Preston Judd drilled in the only goal of the game to defeat San Jose State, 1-0, in a Western Athletic Conference men's soccer match.

In the 65th minute, Jordan Lane of the Lancers passed the ball up the field to Judd who dribbled through Spartan defenders and launched the ball past goalkeeper, Alex Clewis.

The Spartans (5-6-2, 3-2-1 WAC) had many opportunities to tie the game. A good chance came from Nicholas Brenes when he fired a shot to the low right side of the net in the second half, but Lancers goalkeeper Albert Escuin came up with the big save. Escuin was credited with 10 saves in the match.

"We just have to be a little more clinical in front of the goal. It's not the first game we've probably dominated and not won. We have to work harder at our finishing," said Spartans head coach Simon Tobin.

The Spartans outshot CBU (6-7-1, 2-4-0 WAC), 21 to 10.

San Jose State goalkeeper Alex Clewis was credited with three saves.

San Jose State heads on the road, Thursday, October 18 to face Air Force at 6:00 p.m. (MT).
