Spartans Season Ends At Golden Coast Conference Tournament

Long Beach, Calif.----- San Jose State University took its first lead of its Golden Coast Conference men's water polo tournament match against UC Irvine with 2:50 remaining, but the Anteaters scored the final three goals for a 10-8 victory.
 
            The #19-ranked Spartans (6-18), seeded fifth in the tournament, lost to the #14-ranked Anteaters (9-15) for the third time this season. All three matches were decided by two goals or less.
 
            Marc Weber gave San Jose State its first and only lead with an even strength goal. The Spartans overcame a 3-1 deficit in the first quarter to tie the match at 5-5, 6-6 and 7-7.
 
            Neil Arnett was San Jose State's top scorer with three goals. Adam Bado, named to the conference's All-Freshman team and was an all-conference honorable mention pick, scored twice. Justin Pickering and Ary Kamen joined Weber in the scoring column.
 
            Second-team all-conference goalkeeper Yahav Fire was credited with 13 saves for San Jose State. UC Irvine outshot the Spartans, 33-24.
