2018 San José State record: 1-11, 1-7 Mountain West. Most recently, the Spartans lost to Fresno State, 31-13, on November 24 to conclude the season.

2018 schedule rated as one of the toughest: According to the NCAA Statistics Service for games played through November 24, San Jose State's 12 opponents compiled a .611 winning percentage, 14th best among Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools and tops among the 12 Mountain West members.
Wyoming, at .556, is the only other Mountain West school is in the top-50 at #48.



2019 opponents: San Jose State will be in an exclusive group of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools to play games in five different time zones next season. Unlike 2018 when the Spartans had less than 8,000 travel miles, the Spartans will exceed more than 13,000 travel miles in 2019.

The 2019 season will mark the first time San Jose State plays two of the three service academies (Air Force, Army West Point and Navy) in the same season and the Spartans' first trip to state of New York.

Marked improvement in turnover margin: The turnover margin category is one area of significant improvement by San Jose State from 2017 to 2018. The Spartans are among the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams with an improvement of plus-20 or more.

Top-25 in pass interceptions: San Jose State has 13 interceptions for the season and is tied for nationally in the category. The last time the Spartans had more than 13 interceptions in a season was in 2012 with 15 in a 13-game season. San José State has a season-high three interceptions in its Washington State and UNLV games.  

Still in the top-10: Defensive back Dakari Monroe is tied for sixth among Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players in passes defended with his 1.6 average. For the season, Monroe has four pass interceptions and 15 pass break-ups.

Sharing a 2018 Mountain West best: Linebacker Ethan Aguayo became the first Mountain West player in 2018 to be credited with 20 tackles in a game with his November 17 afternoon performance against Nevada. Aguayo also added a 27-yard pass interception return that set up San Jose State's first touchdown of the game. His 20 tackles match the 12th best single-game total by a Football Bowl Subdivision player this season.

Prolific pass catching tight ends at San Jose State: With a season that includes recognition from the John Mackey Award three times, Josh Oliver is realizing one of the best seasons by a San Jose State tight end.
