Saratoga, Calif.----- #7-ranked Pepperdine broke a 6-6 tie late in the second quarter with a goal before halftime and two scores to open the third quarter in a 13-11 win over #20-San Jose State in a Golden Coast Conference men's water polo match.
The Spartans (6-15, 0-2 GCC) led 4-2 after the first quarter and trailed 7-6 at halftime before the Waves (14-10, 2-1 GCC) built enough of a cushion to withstand any San Jose State second half rally. Three times in the second half, the Spartans got within a goal, but could not get the equalizer.
Marc Weber and Cade Baldridge each scored three times for San Jose State.
Spartan goalkeeper Yahav Fire was credited with 14 saves.
