CYD IS NO KID ANYMORE
Cydni Lewis (So., F, Long Beach, Calif.) has matured into one of the Spartans most dangerous threats...inside and outside, on offense and defense.  Lewis leads the team in scoring (11.6/g), rebounds (5.8/g) and blocks (1.0/g).  She is the squads best percentage shooter (.392) among those that have attempted at least eight shots per game, leads the team in three-point shooting (.555) and has gone to the line a team-high 30 times, sinking 21 for a .700 shooting percentage.

HAFOKA IS HEATING UP
This season, Fieme'a Hafoka (Jr. , G, Kihei, Maui) has returned to her natural position, a wing, after a year out of position, at trail post.  After eight games the change is paying dividends.  Hafoka's scoring average is up to 9.6 ppg from 6.1 per game last year and that is just the beginning.  Her shooting percentages are all up...field goal percentage is up from .355-to-.375, three-point field goal percentage is .333 this year compared to .243 a year ago and the free throw shooting us up to .714 from .600.  In addition, her assists and steals averages are up from 1.8-to-2.6 and 1.2-to-2.5, respectively.

Earlier this season, Hafoka set and then reset her career scoring-high with 14 points against CSU Bakersfield (11/24) and 17 points against Pacific (11/29).

QUICK LOOK AT SANTA CLARA
The Broncos are 5-4 after nine games after losing at Fresno State, 80-53, on Wednesday evening.  Santa Clara is 1-3 in road contests this season with its lone win coming in overtime at Cal State Fullerton.  In its four road contests the Broncos are averaging 48.5 and surrendering 74.8 points per game.  Overall this year, Santa Clara is averaging 58.1 points a game and is giving up 61.6.

The Broncos' offense is paced by Tia Hay (13.0/g), the lone player in double digit scoring.  Hay also paces the team in assists (2.2/g).  Lauren Yearwood is the leader in rebounds (7.3/g) and blocks (3.0/g).  Lexie Pritchard is averaging a team-high 1.3 steals per outing.

Bill Carr is in his third season leading the Broncos' program.  In his first two seasons at Santa Clara, he posted a 23-37 record.

SJSU VS. THE WCC
Overall, San José State is 67-109 (.380 winning percentage) against the current make up of the schools in the West Coast Conference (WCC), with the vast majority of the losses, 35, coming at the hands of the University of the Pacific Tigers.  Of the ten teams in the WCC the Spartans have played, the SJSU has .500 records against San Francisco (22-22) and Santa Clara (24-24), but has a losing record against the remaining eight teams in the league.

COACH CRAIGHEAD AND PLAYER INTERVIEWS
All interview requests for Head Coach Jamie Craighead or any players should be made through the SJSU Athletics Media Relations Office, 408-924-1208, at least 24 hours in advance. Players are available as their class schedules, practices and meetings permit. On game days, players will not be available until post-game. Media members are also required to make arrangements with the San José State's Athletics Media Relations Office to attend any practice session.

AIN'T NOTHING BUT A THREE THING
Offensively the Spartans are not shy when it comes to long distance shooting.  Nationally, SJSU ranks 32nd in three-point attempts, 28th in three-pointers made, 11th in three-pointers per game, 94th in three-point percentage and leads the Mountain West at 10.0 threes per game.

In the 2017-18 season, two Spartans set program records for making threes.  Analyss Benally (Jr., G, Shiprock, N.M.) sank 60, which are the most by a sophomore in program history and the ninth most by a Spartan in a single season.  Coming into the Santa Clara game, her 79 career three-pointers place her 22 away from the top-10 on the program's career list.

Megan Anderson (So., G, Fresno, Calif.) dropped in 46 treys  in 2017-18, a freshman record for San José State women's basketball and the 18th most for a single-season in program history.  In addition to her freshman program record, Anderson led all Mountain West freshmen and was the fourth most accurate freshman three-point shooter in the nation last season at .438.  Her .438 three-point shooting percentage is also a single-season record for the program.  Anderson's 59 career-threes entering the Santa Clara game tie her with Myzhanique Ladd (2014-18) die 18th all-time and her career .415 three-point shooting percentage is the best in program history.

SETTLING IN NICELY
Raziya Potter (Fr., G, Tracy, Calif.) has scored in double figures in five of eight games this season and has made six starts.  In the last three games she is averaging 13.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists.  Over those games her shooting percentage is .351 (13-of-37) and .462 (6-of-13) from three-point range.

MORE CAREER-LIST ASSAULTS
In addition to Analyss Benally and Megan Anderson, who are firmly planted on the SJSU women's basketball all-time lists, two other Spartans appear in the career record book.

With a blocked shot at Nebraska (12/8), Cydni Lewis (So., F, Long Beach, Calif.) equaled MiaTonya Smith (2000-02)for 25th on the program's career blocked shot list.  Entering the Santa Clara game she is two blocks from tying Susan Day (1977-80) and Danna Campbell (1996-98) for 23rd place.  If she continues on her per game pace for this season (1.0/g), she would finish the regular season with 61 career blocks which would tie her for 10th place on the career list.  In addition to her shot -blocking prowess, Lewis is among the best percentage shooters in program history.  She ranks 16th at .469 (112-of-239).

Alexis Harris (Jr., C, Palo Alto, Calif.) has swatted 33 shots in 59 career games for an average of 0.6 blocks per game which places her in tie for 21st place on the blocked shots per game list.

MARQUEZ STEPS UP IN MULTIPLE WAYS
Point guard Danae Marquez (So., PG, Fresno, Calif.), who had two starts last season, is making a big impact this year.  She is the starting point guard, but it goes well beyond that.  Marquez has upped her scoring from 5.2-to-7.4 points per game as well as increasing her assists from 3.3-to-4.8 a game.  Her steals are up to 1.4 per game from 1.2, but perhaps the biggest surprise is she is second on the team in rebounding.  The 5-5 guard is grabbing 4.5/g.

FAST BREAKS
Fieme'a Hafoka (Jr., G, Kihei, Maui) Captain...averaging three steals, three assists and one steal in the last three games.

Analyss Benally (Jr., G, Shiprock, N.M.) has hit 90 buckets in her career, 79 of which are three pointers. Leads the team with 18 threes this year including seven in the last two games.

Cydni Lewis (So., F, Long Beach, Calif.) in the last two games (at Colorado and Nebraska) averaged 16.5 points on .545 (12-of-22) shooting including .778 (7-of-9) from beyond the arc and grabbed 7.0 rebounds per game.

Danae Marquez (So., PG, Fresno, Calif.) leads the team with 38 assists (4.8/g) which ranks third in the Mountain West.  Second on the team (4.5/g) and set a single-game best with eight rebounds against CSUB (11/24).

Raziya Potter (Fr., G, Tracy, Calif.) started the first three games, the second most starts at the beginning of a season for a freshman in the Jamie Craighead era. The team's second-leading scorer (10.0 ppg).

Megan Anderson (So., G, Fresno, Calif.) has made at least one three-pointer in 30-of-38 career-games.  Last season led team with a .438 three-point shooting percentage.  She led all Mountain West freshmen and ranked fourth in the nation among freshman three-point percentage shooters.

Alexis Harris (Jr., C, Palo Alto, Calif.) set career-highs with 9 rebounds & 4 blocks vs. Southern Oregon (12/20/17). Ranks 21st on the program's career shots blocked per game list (0.6/g).

Courtesy Clark (So., G, Sacramento, Calif.) equaled a career-high 8 pts against SFSU (11/6) and has already tripled her three-point output from a year ago. Ranks 7th in the MW in steals (2.0/g)

Andrea Kohlhaas (Sr., F, Besigheim, Germany) Captain...returned to action against SFSU (11/6) after nearly a year away rehabbing after a leg injury sustained in the fifth game of last season.  This season 5-of-6 buckets have been 3-pointers.

Nefer León (Fr., G, Vitoria, Spain) scored three points in each of the first three games of the 2018-19 season.

Mikaylah Wilson (So., F, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) fourth on the team at 3.5 rebounds per game.  Was the squad's leading scorer at PSU (11/11) with 14 points.
