CYD IS NO KID ANY MORE
Cydni Lewis (So., F, Long Beach, Calif.) has matured into one of the Spartans most dangerous threats...inside and outside, on offense and defense.  Lewis leads the team in scoring (11.1/g), rebounds (5.3/g) and blocks (1.0/g).  She is the squads second best percentage shooter (.378) among those that have attempted at least eight shots per game, leads the team in three-point shooting (.500) and has gone to the line a team-high 32 times, sinking 22 for a .688 shooting percentage.

HAFOKA IS HEATING UP
This season, Fieme'a Hafoka (Jr. , G, Kihei, Maui) has returned to her natural position, a wing, after a year out of position, at trail post.  After nine games the change is paying dividends.  Hafoka's scoring average is up to 10.4 ppg from 6.1 per game last year and that is just the beginning.  Her shooting percentages are all up...field goal percentage is up from .355-to-.418, three-point field goal percentage is .351 this year compared to .243 a year ago and the free throw shooting us up to .714 from .600.  In addition, her assists and steals averages are up from 1.8-to-3.0 and 1.2-to-2.1, respectively.

Earlier this season, Hafoka set her career scoring-high with 117 points against Pacific (11/29) and then matched it against Santa Clara (12/15).

QUICK LOOK AT CSUN
The Matadors are off to a 5-7 start, after falling to USC last Sunday.  CSUN is 3-2 at home this season with wins over Washington State, Cal Baptist and San Diego State, but lost to Harvard and LMU.  In its three wins the Matadors are beating its opponents by an average of 7.3 points.  So far this year, CSUN is averaging 60.2 points a game and is giving up 65.8 in those game.

The Matadors are paced by Channon Fluker, who is averaging a double double (16.8 pts & 11.8 rebs), and also leads the team with 3.5 blocks per outing.  Fluker leads the nation in blocks (42), rebounds (142) and double doubles (9).  Meghann Henderson and Destiny Brooks top the Matadors in assists and steals.  Henderson is at 3.8 assists per game, while Brooks is averaging 0.8 steals per contest.

Jason Flowers is in his ninth season leading the CSUN program.  Entering the 2018-19 season, he had a 122-135 record.

SJSU VS. THE BIG WEST
Overall, San José State is 68-156 (.304 winning percentage) against the current make up of the schools in the Big West Conference, with 99 of those losses coming at the hands of Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State and Hawai'i.  Of the nine teams in the Big West, the Spartans have winning records against just two - Cal Poly (8-6) and CSUN (8-5).

AIN'T NOTHING BUT A THREE THING
Offensively the Spartans are not shy when it comes to long distance shooting.  SJSU ranks 29th in the nation in three-point attempts, 39th in three-pointers made, 20th in three-pointers per game and is second in the Mountain West at 9.3 threes per game.

In the 2017-18 season, two Spartans set program records for making threes.  Analyss Benally (Jr., G, Shiprock, N.M.) sank 60, which are the most by a sophomore in program history and the ninth most by a Spartan in a single season.  Coming into the CSUN game, her 80 career three-pointers place her 21 away from the top-10 on the program's career list.  Against Santa Clara, Benally hit three two-point buckets.  It is the first time in her career that she sank multiple two-pointers in a game.

Megan Anderson (So., G, Fresno, Calif.) dropped in 46 treys  in 2017-18, a freshman record for San José State women's basketball and the 18th most for a single-season in program history.  In addition to her program record, Anderson led all Mountain West freshmen and was the fourth most accurate freshman three-point shooter in the nation last season at .438.  Her .438 three-point shooting percentage is also a single-season record for the program.  Her 60 career-threes entering the CSUN game rank 18th all-time and her career .408 three-point shooting percentage is the best in program history.

SETTLING IN NICELY
Raziya Potter (Fr., G, Tracy, Calif.) has scored in double figures in five of nine games this season and has made seven starts.  In the last three games she is averaging 9.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists.  Over those games her shooting percentage is .357 (10-of-28) and .555 (5-of-9) from three-point range.

MORE CAREER-LIST ASSAULTS
In addition to Analyss Benally and Megan Anderson, who are firmly planted on the SJSU women's basketball all-time lists, two other Spartans appear in the career record book.

With a blocked shot against Santa Clara (12/15), Cydni Lewis (So., F, Long Beach, Calif.) passed MiaTonya Smith (2000-02) for 25th on the program's career blocked shot list.  Entering the CSUN game she is one block from tying Susan Day (1977-80) and Danna Campbell (1996-98) for 23rd place.  If she continues on her per game pace for this season (1.0/g), she would finish the regular season with 61 career blocks, which will tie her for 10th place on the career list.  In addition to her shot-blocking prowess, Lewis is among the best percentage shooters in program history.  She ranks 17th at .460 (115-of-250).

Alexis Harris (Jr., C, Palo Alto, Calif.) has swatted 33 shots in 60 career games for an average of 0.6 blocks per game which places her in tie for 21st place on the blocked shots per game list.

MARQUEZ STEPS UP IN MULTIPLE WAYS
Point guard Danae Marquez (So., PG, Fresno, Calif.), who had two starts last season, is making a big impact this year.  She is the starting point guard, but it goes well beyond that.  Marquez has upped her scoring from 5.2-to-6.8 points per game as well as increasing her assists from 3.3-to-4.9 a game.  Her steals are up to 1.6 per game from 1.2, but perhaps the biggest surprise is she is second on the team in rebounding.  The 5-5 guard is grabbing 4.4/g.

FAST BREAKS
Fieme'a Hafoka (Jr., G, Kihei, Maui) Captain...equaled her career-high with 17 points vs. Santa Clara (12/15).

Analyss Benally (Jr., G, Shiprock, N.M.) has hit 94 buckets in her career, 80 of which are three pointers. Leads the team with 19 threes this year including eight in the last three games.

Cydni Lewis (So., F, Long Beach, Calif.) in the last three games has averaged 13.3 points on .454 (15-of-33) shooting including .636 (7-of-11) from beyond the arc.

Danae Marquez (So., PG, Fresno, Calif.) leads the team with 44 assists (4.9/g) which ranks third in the Mountain West.  Second on the team (4.4/g) and set a single-game best with eight rebounds against CSUB (11/24).

Raziya Potter (Fr., G, Tracy, Calif.) started the first three games, the second most starts at the beginning of a season for a freshman in the Jamie Craighead era. The team's third-leading scorer (9.8 ppg).

Megan Anderson (So., G, Fresno, Calif.) has made at least one three-pointer in 31-of-39 career-games.  Last season led team with a .438 three-point shooting percentage.  She led all Mountain West freshmen and ranked fourth in the nation among freshman three-point percentage shooters.

Alexis Harris (Jr., C, Palo Alto, Calif.) set career-highs with 9 rebounds & 4 blocks vs. Southern Oregon (12/20/17). Ranks 21st on the program's career shots blocked per game list (0.6/g).

Courtesy Clark (So., G, Sacramento, Calif.) equaled a career-high 8 pts against SFSU (11/6) and has already tripled her three-point output from a year ago. Ranks 15th in the MW in steals (1.7/g)

Andrea Kohlhaas (Sr., F, Besigheim, Germany) Captain...returned to action against SFSU (11/6) after nearly a year away rehabbing after a leg injury sustained in the fifth game of last season.  This season 5-of-6 buckets have been 3-pointers.

Nefer León (Fr., G, Vitoria, Spain) scored three points in each of the first three games of the 2018-19 season.

Mikaylah Wilson (So., F, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) fourth on the team at 3.4 rebounds per game.  Was the squad's leading scorer at PSU (11/11) with 14 points.  Returned to the lineup after a three-game absence.
