Sean Yu In Arnold Palmer Cup Top-25 International Men's Standings

Norman, Okla.----- Following a solid fall season, San Jose State University men's golfer Sean Yu is ranked #15 in the Arnold Palmer Cup men's international rankings for December 2018.

Yu, a junior from Taipei, Taiwan, had three top-10 finishes and a 14th place tie in the Spartans' four 2018 fall semester tournaments. His best finish was a fifth-place tie in the 36-hole GolfWeek Conference Challenge in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The second-year Spartan also turned in seven-under par 54 hole totals of 206 at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in Fairfax, Calif., and the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif.

His 70.27 stroke average for 11 rounds of competition was tops on the Spartans and placed him 55th nationally in the GolfStat individual rankings at the end of the fall semester.

The 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup will be a 48-player competition between male and female teams from the United States and an international squad. Four men's and women's teams of 12 players each will consist of the top six in the final Cup rankings in the spring of 2019, four committee selections, a coach's pick and, for the international side, the 2019 R&A (Royal & Ancient Golf Club of Scotland) Scholars Tournament winners.

The next Arnold Palmer Cup will be played June 7-9 at the Alotian Club in Roland, Ark., a suburb of Little Rock. Players will compete in co-ed four-ball formats the first two days and singles competition the final day.

Founded in 1997 and named after the legendary golfer, these teams will be competing for the 23rd Arnold Palmer Cup, a tournament managed by the Golf Coaches Association of America and Arnie's Army Charitable Foundation. The 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup was the first in the series to include collegiate women golfers from the United States and around the world.
