#10/#11-Nevada Pulls Away From Spartans In Second Half In 92-53 Win

Reno, Nev.----- #10/#11-University of Nevada exploded for a 20-2 run in the middle of the second half and defeated San Jose State, 92-53, in a Mountain West men's basketball game.

The Spartans (3-11, 0-2 Mountain West) managed to stay within striking distance for the first 25 minutes of the game despite converting just 40 percent of their field goal tries and committing 22 turnovers in the game. The Wolf Pack (15-1, 2-1 Mountain West) turned those Spartan miscues into 27 points, 19 of them in the second half.

San Jose State trailed 43-34 after a Michael Steadman lay-in at the 14:06 mark before Nevada took control with a combination of lay-ins on drives to the basket and three-point shooting accuracy that was absent until that point.

Guard Brae Ivey was the only Spartan in double-figure scoring with 10 points as San Jose State was unable to reach the 60-point mark for the third game in a row.

Nevada's Caleb Martin was the game's high scorer with 23 points, 21 of them in the second half. Though the Wolf Pack was 13-of-34 from 3-point range for the game, Nevada was 11-of-18 in the second half. Jordan Caroline was the second of four double-figure scorers for Nevada with 19.

San Jose State closes out the week hosting Boise State in a January 12 game at The Event Center. Tipoff is at Noon.
