Three Spartans Earn 2018 Academic All-WAC Honors

Defender Jeff Dukes and midfielders Jonathan Partida and Kalei Tolentino-Perry are three San Jose State University men's soccer student-athletes named 2018 Academic All-Western Athletic Conference honorees for the fall sports of men's soccer.

For Partida, a senior from Newark, Calif., majoring in hospitality management, it is his third Academic All-WAC award. Dukes, a junior from Vacaville, Calif., earned his second Academic All-WAC honor and Tolentino-Perry, a sophomore from Hilo, Hawaii, is a first-time honoree.

"All three student-athletes are main contributors on the field and lead by example off the field. We are very proud of all their accomplishments," said San Jose State men's soccer head coach Simon Tobin.

To be nominated a student-athlete must have at a least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average, have at least one year at the nominating institution and participate in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.

Dukes was one of two players to start in all 21 matches last season for the Spartans which advanced to the Western Athletic Conference tournament championship match for the second consecutive season.

Partida tied for third on the team in scoring with seven points on two goals and three assists.  He was named a 2018 honorable mention All-WAC midfielder in December 2018.

Tolentino-Parry was second on the Spartans in scoring with eight points on three goals and two assists. He joined Dukes and defender Andy Rios as the three Spartans to play in all 21 matches last season.
