San Jose, Calif.—San José State women's gymnast Carli Orcutt has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Freshman of the Week in women's gymnastics for the week ending January 20.
Orcutt, from Tucson, Ariz., recorded her best meet as a Spartan and helped the team to a 193.225-189.800 win at Southeast Missouri last Friday night. Orcutt started the night with a season-best 9.750 on bars and followed that up with a season-best 9.700 on vault. She then made her debut on floor in the third rotation with a 9.725. For the meet, she was third on bars, tied for fourth on vault and tied for sixth on floor.
San José State opens the home portion of the schedule this Friday night at 7 p.m. Joining the Spartans at The Event Center will be Air Force, Alaska Anchorage and Seattle Pacific. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. Tickets are available at the door or by calling the Spartan Ticket Office at (408) 924-7589.
