Alum Mark Hubbard Wins On Web.com Tour

Lakewood Ranch, Fla.----- San Jose State University men's golf alum Mark Hubbard picked up his first win on the Web.com Tour posting a 26-under par 262 to finish first at the LECOM Suncoast Classic on the par 72 Lakewood National Golf Club course.

Hubbard posted rounds of 65-68-64-67. He was third after 18 holes; fourth after 36 and trailing by three shots; moved into the lead after 54 holes with a two-stroke advantage over two players; and won the tournament by two strokes over runner-up Maverick McNealy, the former star at Stanford.

"I am kind of speechless right now, to be honest." Hubbard told reporters after his win. "I think that is why I was able to pull it off. I was really good about not thinking about the outcome, about winning."

Always good with his putting as a Spartan, he had 28 birdies and an eagle over the course of 72 holes on the 7,161-yard course.

Hubbard's victory was his first in 65 tournaments on the Web.com Tour and his second win on a professional golf tour. He won the 2013 Wildfire Invitational in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, a stop on the PGA TOUR Canada circuit.

The Denver Colo., native played at San Jose State during the 2008 through 2011 seasons. He was the Spartans' team leader in stroke average his sophomore through senior seasons, a two-time first-team All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) golfer and the 2011 Western Athletic Conference Championship tournament medalist. The business administration major was a Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-American Scholar and a two-time Academic All-WAC award winner.

Hubbard turned pro in 2012, made his debut on the PGA Tour in 2013 and played in 82 PGA Tour events through 2017. In 2018, he played in 26 Web.com Tour tournaments.
