San Jose, Calif.—On Alumni Night, the San José State women's gymnastics team made the alums proud as the Spartans had their best meet of the season with a 194.175 team score in a meet with UC Davis and Boise State at The Event Center.
The Spartans started the night on vault with a season-best 48.475. Trisha Raquel started the rotation with a 9.425, followed by Josalyn Ray at 9.675. Chelsey Andrada had the vault of the night for the Spartan as she stuck it, tying her career best with a 9.875. Taylor Chan followed with a 9.775, and Carli Orcutt rounded out the rotation with a 9.725.
Moving to bars, the Spartans scored a 48.625 with only five gymnasts competing. Orcutt started the night with a 9.725, followed by Chan at 9.700. Stephanie Relova had team's top score at 9.800, then Nikki Duggan with a career-best 9.675 and Kaprece Nadonza at 9.725.
The beam had another solid night with a 48.450. Relova started the rotation with a 9.725. Jasmine Henley then scored a 9.525, Ray at 9.675, Gabrielle De Leon at 9.075, Andrada at 9.725 and Chan with the team high at 9.800.
The floor team finished the meet with a 48.625. Ray started the rotation with a 9.600, Relova then at 9.250, Orcutt at 9.650, Henley at 9.725, Andrada at 9.800 and Chan with a team-high 9.850.
Chan scored a 39.125 in the all-around to finish third.
Boise State showed why they are the ninth-ranked team in the country as they won the meet with a 196.525. Shani Remme showed why she is one of the best all-around performers in the country with a 39.400 to win the title. UC Davis scored a 194.525 to round out the team scoring.
San José State travels back to the Capital City next week to compete against Sacramento State on Friday, February 8, at 7 p.m.
