Spartans Open Mountain West Championships With School Record

Albuquerque, N.M.----- San Jose State University's women's distance medley relay team posted a school record time of 11:58.67 to begin the 2019 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championship at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
 
            The Spartan foursome of Jeanette Zambrano, Mikayla Akers, Savanna Perez and Kai Bohannon finished in ninth place ahead of teams from UNLV and San Diego State. 
 
The previous San Jose State record was a 12:25.58 at the 2018 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships. Bohannon and Akers were part of that foursome.
 
San Jose State enters the second of the three-day championship meet tied with Air Force for 10th place. The Spartans have entries in the weight throw, 800, mile and 5000-meter runs, 60-meter hurdles, and the 60, 200 and 400-meter dashes.
