Jardon Qualifies For 400 Meter Final At Mountain West Championships

Albuquerque, N.M.----- Aidan Jardon's sixth-place finish in the 400 meters preliminary round highlighted San Jose State University's second day at the three-day Mountain West Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships.
 
            Jardon posted a season-best time of 49.88 to qualify for Saturday's final.
 
            Teammate Dominic Tanner also posted a season best time of 49.98 in the 400 and missed out on the eighth and final qualifying spot in the championship final by .04 seconds.

             "Our men had a solid day today and raced well. We had a lot of guys very close to making the final with only one or two races under their belts for the season," said Kendra Reimer-Gonzales, San Jose State's director of track and field, whose squad had six season bests on the day. "Our team is new to indoor track and we are very young. We had a strong showing today for our first indoor season."
 
            Freshman Richard Dang finished 14th in the long jump with a season-best 20-feet-10.5. Jose Pina and Huruy Zeratsion placed 13th and 17th in the 5000 meters. Pina was clocked in 15:23.09.
 
            Sprinters Michael Harris, III, in the 60 and 200, and Brendan Manigo in the 200 had season bests. Harris, III, and Manigo, a pair of freshmen, were halfbacks on the 2018 San Jose State football team. Peter Handy was a fifth Spartan freshman with a season best running his 800 meters in 1:59.33.
