The second period proved to be the difference in the game. From 1:36 left in the first, with the score tied 14-14, to 5:45 in the second, San José State outscored the Falcons 13-0.

Air Force (8-18, 4-11 MW) took just eight shots and made only one, a three-pointer in the second.  They scored a total of five points in 10 minutes while turning the ball over 12 times, which the Spartans turned into 14 of the 20 points they would get in the period.  As the teams went to the locker room, SJSU was up 40-19.

In the third, the Spartans continued to pour it on.  They established the biggest lead of the game, 27-points at 54-27, with 4:08 to play in the quarter.  But with a 12-5 Falcons' run to close the period, it was a 59-39 game heading into the final 10 minutes.

With the game in hand, the Spartans took their foot off the pedal a bit in the fourth.  They committed six turnovers, gave up seven second-change points and six points on fast breaks.
