Spartans Tied For Seventh At Southwestern Invitational

Westlake Village, Calif.----- The San Jose State University men's golf team was in a three-way tie for seventh place when the 39th annual Southwestern Invitational was suspended due to darkness.

Six of the 12 teams still had at least one player out on the par 72, North Ranch Country Club grounds when the horn sounded to stop play.

UPDATE: San Jose State finished its round early on February 26 and is tied for seventh place with LMU at 589.

For the Spartans, they played their first 18 holes in five-over par 293 and were tied for fifth with San Diego State. Kevin Velo led the way with a bogey-free round of 69 with birdies on #3, #12 and #13. He was the only player in the 66-man field to finish round one without a bogey.
