Riverside, Calif.----- San Jose State University relied on balanced scoring and effective defense in wins over host Cal Baptist, 9-6, and Concordia of Irvine, 16-8, in the Lancer Joust women's water polo tournament.
Three Spartans scored two or more goals against #23-ranked Cal Baptist. Four San Jose State players did the same in the Concordia of Irvine win.
Sophomore Tyanna Supreme was the one of Spartan to do it in each victory. Team-leading scorer Olga Descalzi Portell was San Jose State's top scorer against #23-Cal Baptist with three while Supreme and Matilda Moore each scored twice.
Supreme found the back of the cage two more times in the afternoon win over Concordia of Irvine. Team captain Sierra Painter matched her career best of four goals for the second time in the last five matches. Lili Urvari poured in three goals and Caroline Kerwin had her first two-goal match of the season in the victory.
Emma Hank, against Cal Baptist, scored her first goal as a Spartan.
Hannah Henry was credited with eight saves in the Cal Baptist win and seven against Concordia of Irvine.
San Jose State (6-5, 0-1 Mountain West) returns to action next weekend playing two matches each day in the LMU Invitational.
