Spartans Start The Goodwin In 12th Place

Stanford, Calif.----- Bryce Wortman posted an even par 70 leading San Jose State University to a 12th place start at The Goodwin men's golf tournament at the Stanford Golf Course.
 
            Wortman's 70 comes off of his final-round 69 at the Oregon Duck Invitational two days earlier. His opening round on the par 70, 6,758-yard course consisted of two birdies and two bogeys. He was one of 24 players to match or better par and is in a tie for 11th place in the 135-player field.
 
            Nate Jetter turned in his best score in relation to par this season with a 74. The Spartans also counted Sean Yu's 72 and one of the 75's from Matt Heitel and Kevin Velo for their team score of 291.
 
            Washington is the first-round team leader with a 278. Host Stanford is second at 279.
 
            The Goodwin's second round is on March 29. San Jose State's tee times start at 12:25 p.m. off of the 10th hole. The 54-hole tournament concludes on March 30 with 18 holes.
