Federal Way, Wash.----- San Jose State University senior Brenna Bushey won both of her 100 butterfly races at the Pac-12 Invitational women's swimming and diving meet at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center.
Recently named a 2019 two-time All-Mountain West swimmer, Bushey finished first in her 100 butterfly preliminary round race with a time of 53.45. She finished ahead of swimmers from Utah, UCLA and Washington State.
A 2019 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships "B-standard qualifier" from her swims at the 2019 Mountain West Championship nine days ago, Bushey came back in the 100 butterfly final and posted a faster time of 53.28 easily out-stroking UCLA's Bonnie Schmitz who was clocked in 59.43.
"Brenna put together two great swims today, having a very good final in the 100 fly," said San Jose State University women's swimming head coach Sage Hopkins, about the Spartans' school record holder in the event since her sophomore season.
"From here on out, we will continue refining some small details as we up to the National Invitational Championships (next week)."
The Spartans are next in action at the National Invitational Championships, March 13-16, in Cleveland, Ohio.
The NCAA Championships are March 20-23 in Austin, Texas.
