Normally dormant at this time of year, the CEFCU Stadium press box came to life when more than two dozen San José State University student-athletes from eight men's and women's intercollegiate athletics teams completed phone calls to donors with the simple and significant message – "Thank you!"
By the end of the March 4 & 5 call-a-thon, more than 500 donors received a phone call from student-athletes thanking them for their support of the Spartan Athletics Fund and SJSU's 22 Division I sports programs.
Senior beach volleyball player Ciara Reistad volunteered to make "thank you" calls and single-handedly reached out to 20 donors in less than two hours.
"I felt like it was very important for us student-athletes to personally thank these people because they have a direct impact on our experience here," Reistad said. "All of the donors I spoke with seemed really nice and I think they liked to hear 'thank you' from the athletes."
The Spartan Athletics Fund (SAF), formerly the Spartan Foundation annual fund, is the annual fund that supports more than 500 Spartan student-athletes. Gifts to the SAF have the same purpose and impact as your previous gifts to the Spartan Foundation.
