Spartans On The Road To San Diego State
San José State travels to Southern California this weekend for a three-game series at San Diego State starting Friday night. The Spartans will spend this weekend and next weekend on the road. The Spartans enter the series with a 26-12 overall record and tied for second in the MW at 6-3. The Aztecs are 17-21 overall and fifth in the conference standings with a 5-7 MW record.

The Spartans dropped two of three last weekend to MW leader Colorado State. The team lost 5-2 and 2-1 before winning the series finale 3-2 last Sunday. The win by SJSU on Sunday snapped Colorado State's 20-game winning streak. Rayohna Sagapolu led the team with a .500 batting average for the series with three hits, three RBI, two doubles and a run scored. Cassidy Clark added four hits and two runs scored. In the circle, Chrys Hildebrand got the only win of the weekend, while Jenessa Ullegue struck out six, and Caroline Bowman got the save in Sunday's win.
SCOUTING THE AZTECS
San Diego State enters the weekend series with a 17-21 overall record and a 5-7 Mountain West record, alone in the fifth place in the standings. The team fell at San Diego Wednesday evening 5-4 in 10 innings. The Aztecs won the Nevada series last weekend in Reno, losing the first game 7-2, before winning 10-2 and 3-2.
The Aztecs are hitting .266 as team with 273 hits, 130 runs scored, 130 RBI, 43 doubles and nine home runs. The team has stolen 39 bases in 44 attempts.
Taylor Adams leads the team in hitting with a .363 average. She ha a team-high 41 hits and drove in 19 runs. Kiera Wright has scored a team-best 25 runs and is a perfect 17-for-17 in stolen bases. Kelsey Munoz and Molly Sturdivant each have a team-best eight doubles.
In the circle, the Aztecs have a 4.22 ERA with 140 strikeouts in 255.2 innings pitched. The pitching staff is led by Marissa Moreno with a 3.76 ERA in 98.2 innings pitched. She has a 7-9 record in 26 appearances and two saves. Moreno has recorded a team-best 87 strikeouts. Ailcia Garcia has a 4.32 ERA and a 7-6 record in 69.2 innings pitched, while MJ James has a 4.84 ERA with a 3-6 record in 85.1 innings pitched.
San Diego State has a .959 fielding percentage and has turned 14 double plays.

Madison Aurin is one of the toughest hitters to strikeout in the country. Through games played Tuesday (4/9), she is the 26th toughest to strikeout in the nation, striking out just once every 26.3 at bats. This season, Aurin has only four strikeouts in 105 at bats.
