Saratoga, Calif.—— #21 San Jose State University won its final home match of the season, 8-6, against Indiana University in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's water polo match.
Seven Spartans scored in the win with Tyanna Supreme leading San Jose State (9-12, 2-3 MPSF) with two goals. The Spartans' second conference win in their last three MPSF contests means San Jose State has two MPSF triumphs in a season for the first time since 2014.
Tyanna Supreme scored the first goal of the match and led the team with two goals. Her second goal ignited a four-goal outburst to wipe out a 5-3 halftime deficit. Sierra Painter, Olga Descalzi Portell and Michelle Taikeff, San Jose State's one senior on the team recognized during pre-match introductions finished the 4-0 run covering 5:48 of the third quarter.
The teams traded goals to close out the scoring. Lili Urvari gave the Spartans an insurance goal with 4:46 remaining.
San Jose State goalkeeper Hannah Henry was credited with five saves. Mary Askew was credited with 12 saves in goal for Indiana (5-14, 0-5 MPSF).
San Jose State returns to action Saturday, April 20 in their last MPSF match against Stanford.
