San Diego, Calif.----- The San Jose State University women's doubles pair of Miyo Kobayashi and Alba Pedrero Galindo posted the team's only win in a 4-0 loss to top-seed UNLV in a Mountain West Championship quarterfinal round match.
Kobayashi and Pedrero Galindo defeated UNLV's Connie Li and Samantha Li, 6-2, but the Rebels won the remaining two doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead going into the six singles matches.
UNLV (15-6) won at #1, #3 and #6-singles to clinch the match and advance to an April 26 semifinal contest.
In the regular-season match that the Rebels won over the Spartans, 4-0, Kobayashi was the only San Jose State player to win a set. When the Mountain West Championshiip match was halted, Kobayashi at #2-singles, Savannah Sendar at #4-singles, and Laura Malsert at #5-singles each had won the first set of their respective matches.
The Spartans (10-9) concluded their season with their fifth consecutive winning record in dual match action. Kobayashi, named All-Mountain West in singles, completed her four seasons as San Jose State's leader in combined career singles and doubles victories with 148.
