Five Spartans Named All-Mountain West; Ullegue & Clark Receive Special Honors

Colorado Springs, Colo.—After a successful 37-16 season and second-place finish in the Mountain West with a 17-7 record, five San José State softball players have received 2019 All-Mountain West honors.
 
Leading the list are freshman Jenessa Ullegue who was named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Year and junior Cassidy Clark who was named the Mountain West Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
 
Ullegue had an 8-3 record in the circle in Mountain West play with a 1.52 ERA. She appeared in 14 conference games, starting eight and completing seven. She tossed two shutouts and recorded two saves in 69 innings pitched. Ullegue struck out 54 conference batters and allowed only 15 earned runs in conference play.
 
Clark had a .989 fielding percentage in 24 games played. She committed only one error at second base with 53 putouts and 41 assists.
 
Ullegue and freshman infielder Alyssa Graham were named first-team All-Mountain West. Graham, who started at third base for all 24 games, led the team in hitting during the conference season at .370 with 27 hits, 10 runs scored, 13 RBI, seven doubles and two home runs. Ullegue hit .216 during the conference season to go along with her 1.52 ERA in the circle.
 
Senior Madison Aurin and sophomore Caroline Bowman were second team All-Mountain West honorees. Aurin hit .303 in 24 games started either at first base or in the circle. She had 23 hits, nine runs scored, 22 RBI, six doubles, two home runs and a triple. In the circle, Aurin had 3-0 a record with a 1.24 ERA with two shutouts in 22.2 innings pitched.
 
Bowman went 4-3 in the circle with a 2.07 ERA in 13 appearances. She started eight times with two complete games, one shutout and a save. Bowman struck out 19 batters and allowed only 14 earned runs in 47.1 innings pitched.
