COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Jose State baseball senior outfielder Kellen Strahm was named to the 2019 All-Mountain West Baseball First Team after a terrific season that saw him lead the conference with a .382 batting average. The Mountain West made the announcement on Thursday.
"We as a coaching staff as well as his teammates are all very proud and excited for Kellen," head coach Brad Sanfilippo said. "He is well-deserving of this honor and was an elite baseball player in this conference. His numbers show just how valuable he was for us as a team and how good he was in the conference. He was extremely valuable for our team in our success this season and he has a very bright future as a professional ball player."
Strahm, who missed significant playing time due to injury that sidelined him for a good portion of the conference schedule, finished the season as the Spartans most productive offensive player. He lead the team with 38 runs scored and six home runs, finished second with 58 hits and third with 28 RBI. He also led the way on the base paths with 14 stolen bases.
Strahm, a native of Eugene, Oregon, also posted a team-high .391 batting average in conference play in 23 starts. He tallied 34 hits, five home runs and 18 RBI and was a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts. Strahm also excelled in the field committing just two errors in 126 chances.
