San Jose, Calif.—Former Spartan softball player Casey Watt returns to the San José State program as an assistant coach for the 2020 season as announced by Spartan head coach Peter Turner.
Watt was a part of the program for five years, 2013-17, as she redshirted in 2015. She was a Mountain West Scholar Athlete and Academic All-MW honoree during her time at San José State.
An outfielder for the Spartans, Watt finished her career with a .303 batting average, the 17th best in school history. She recorded 112 hits and scored 86 runs in her 187 games played. Watt started 52 of her 54 games played her senior year and helped the Spartans win the 2017 Mountain West championship and the 2013 Western Athletic Conference title.
The past two seasons, Watt was an assistant coach at Menlo College for former Spartan assistant Christen (Hardee) Thompson. Watt was the hitting and outfield coach for the Oaks.
"I am happy that Casey is coming back to San José State to join our staff," said Turner. "She is a perfect fit to our staff with her background as a student-athlete here and the coaching experience she had the past two years at Menlo."
Watt graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology in May of 2016.
