San José, Calif. -- As part of a campus-wide effort in response to the tragic shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, the San José State University athletics department is teaming up to support the city of Gilroy, 16 miles south of San José and at the southern end of Santa Clara County.
SJSU Athletics is offering up to four free tickets to all Gilroy residents for any Spartan athletics event in the month of August, including the following games:

In addition, all proceeds from Spartans Eats concession sales of garlic fries at the football team's season opener against Northern Colorado will be donated to the Gilroy relief efforts.
"We are 100 percent committed to supporting our local communities, especially in light of last week's devastating tragedy at the Gilroy Garlic Festival," said Athletics Director Marie Tuite. "We look forward to hosting our neighbors from the Gilroy community at our upcoming events as we hope this small gesture will support their healing process."
