Lauren Hanson Takes Part In NCAA Women’s College Cup Press Conference At Avaya Stadium

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose State women's soccer was well represented on Tuesday as head coach Lauren Hanson took part in a preseason NCAA Women's College Cup press conference at Avaya Stadium to promote the city of San Jose winning the bid to host the 2019 Women's College Cup.

Hanson was joined by Stanford head coach Paul Ratcliffe and Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith as the trio discussed the importance of having the Women's College Cup return to San Jose and about their upcoming seasons.

"I just had the opportunity to speak on the behalf of our program for the San Jose Sports Authority, and honestly it was a really fantastic experience," Hanson said. "I feel honored and privileged to be able to come here and show and say how important it is to have the Final Four and Women's College Cup here in San Jose hosted by the WCC and the San Jose Earthquakes at Avaya Stadium."

Hanson spent time speaking about her first-hand experience of playing for the Women's College Cup. She is one of a select few to win the Women's Cup as both a player and a coach, doing both so at the University of Portland. She also used the platform as an opportunity to speak about her program and previewed the quickly approaching 2019 season.

Executive Director of San Jose Sports Authority John Poch also announced that the Spartans' home matches against Boise State and Fresno State will be designated "College Cup Night" promotional nights in partnership with San Jose Sports Authority.

San Jose State women's soccer returns to the pitch this Thursday in a home exhibition vs. Saint Mary's. Admission is free.
