Essex, England – Former San José State forward Andrea Kohlhaas has agreed to a professional contract with the Essex Rebels, the club announced this week.
Essex is entering its second season in the Women's British Basketball League, a top-level league in Great Britain. Kohlhaas joins the Rebels after finishing her collegiate career ranked ninth in Spartan history with a .321 three-point percentage.
"Dre was a tremendous teammate and an even better person while apart of our women's basketball program," says SJSU head coach Jamie Craighead. "I am extremely proud of her and know she will do exceptional in her masters program and professional basketball career at Essex. We will be following her successes as she embarks on this new journey and wish her all the best."
Kohlhaas is now the fifth Spartan from the Craighead era to play professionally overseas.
The Besigheim, Germany native graduated from Otto Hahn Gymnasium prior to arriving in Silicon Valley and was part of a team that finished second place in the German National Championships in 2013. She also competed in Germany's Damen Basketball-Bundesliga for Grüner Stern Keltern, where her team made the league finals and was promoted to the first division.
Shining both on the floor and in the classroom, Kohlhaas was a three-time Academic All-Mountain West honoree in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
The forward capped her Spartan career in style, appearing in all 30 games in her senior season.
