Spartans Fight Hard But Fall To Arizona, 1-0

SAN JOSE, Calif. –San Jose State women's soccer fought hard against Pac-12 foe Arizona, but ultimately fell 1-0 to the Wildcats Sunday at the Spartan Soccer Complex.

The Spartans (2-3-2) put up seven shots and made four big saves against a team that had shutout out their first four opponents by a combined score of 15-0.

In the 30th minute, Arizona got on the board with a well-placed shot to the upper left-hand corner by Jill Aguilera which proved to be the game-winner. From that point forward, the Spartans played lockdown defense and didn't allow another goal for the afternoon.

The Spartans had several great chances to score themselves. In the 60th minute, Jamilecxth Becerra put a charge into the ball from 30 yards out, but the shot went just wide. In the 85th minute, SJSU had their best chance on a corner kick. Becerra put a head into it, but the shot was saved and the Wildcats ran out the clock to preserve the win.
