Spartans Lose To #19 Cal Baptist and #8 California In Aggie Invite

Davis, Calif.—-San Jose State's  Finn Pardon scored seven goals in today's matches making #18 San Jose States number of goals a total of 19 in their first matches of the Aggie invitational.

    The first match of today was a 9-8 non-conference loss to #19 California Baptist. Pardon, Adam Bado, Marc Weber and Niels Hofmeijer scored goals for San Jose State. 

    At the end of the first quarter #18 San Jose State and #19 California Baptist the score was tied. California Baptist broke the tie and was leading by the end of the first half. Then San Jose State tied the match again by the end of the third quarter but California Baptist took the lead during the fourth quarter and won the match. 

    Spartan goalkeeper Yahav Fire was credited with 10 saves. 

    The Spartans second match was a 13-11 non-conference overtime loss to #8 California. Pardon scored five of the 11 Spartan goals along with Neil Arnett, Adam Bado, Marc Weber and Brad Dennis. 

    The first half of the match ended in a 5-5 tie. California took the lead over the Spartans at the end of the third quarter but San Jose State ties the match at the end of the second half. California takes the lead at the end of the first overtime period and keeps it until the end of the match. 

    Spartan goalkeeper Yahav Fire was credited with 21 saves. 

    The Spartans will return to action tomorrow for the final day of the Aggie Invitational where they will play against #4 Pacific, Whittier College and Ottawa.
