Shanghai, China----- For San Jose State University men's golfer Sean Yu, the objective in the second round of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship was to make the 36-hole cut.
The Spartan senior also representing Chinese Taipei in the 42-country international tournament did comfortably with a two-over par 146 total on the par 72 Sheshan International Golf Club course. He was tied for 33rd place far in front of the cutline of nine-over par 155 accounting for the top-60 players plus ties in the 120-player field.
Yu's second-round score of two-over par 74 clearly was one of ups and downs. He was on fire for his first nine holes with four birdies for a three-under par 33 and in the top-15 on the leaderboard. However, Yu ran into difficulties on the inward nine with three bogeys and a double bogey for his second round 74 on the 7,041-yard course.
Blake Windred of Australia, ranked #11 in the World Amateur Golf rankings, is the 36-hole leader at 10-under par 134.
The 72-hole championship continues with 18 holes each of the next two days.
